After the Lord Mayor’s

After the Lord Mayor’s

So, I popped over to Ireland for a week to attend a cousin’s wedding. Whilst I’m away, Tooting not only continue their recent upsurge in form but positively smash a couple of results out of Abbey and AFC Croydon. And a debutant author absolutely smashes an article for SLiB&W.

Well, I am sorry to say that upsurge has hit a buffer. Both on the pitch and now in this piece, the bar has been lowered. A grey day was inexplicably matched on the pitch.

Passes skipped passed players, crosses crossed over the heads of our forwards, shots shot wide of posts. It was just one of those days. My feeling is that this is just a small glitch and with the champion’s elect as our next opponents I sincerely hope that normal service will be resumed.

I don’t understand why the general plea from fan based social media, podcasts, WhatsApp groups etc and the recent run of results has failed to improve attendance, 165 today. I was still keen to get to Imperial Fields despite a sore wrist as a result of updating the fixture board.

Next Saturday is a major test but not one that will define our season. But, just maybe, it will be a “I was there” scenario. Do you want to just hear about or read about it OR experience it. See you there?
